The Ardeal Project started after several years of playing with the 6-piece klezmer orchestra, Mames Babegenush. The music and their performance inspired us, and we wanted to play more of this kind of music. With our violinist Andrea Gyarfas Brahe’s Rumanian background and viola player Sidsel Most’s Hungarian background, we started searching old traditional melodies from Transylvania. Now we make our own arrangements of these beautiful songs and add our nordic vibes, and we simply love to play these concerts. We soon realized that our cooperation with Mames’ accordion player, Nicolai Kornerup, was so great for the group - and he also composed a lot of new pieces to this constellation - in the same vibe, but originally composed songs.

The Ardeal Project consists of LiveStrings string quartet; Andrea Gyarfas Brahe(violin), Karen Pedersen(violin), Sidsel Most (viola), Live Johansson (cello) and Nicolai Kornerup (accordionist/pianist/composer).

The Ardeal Project is still in close collaboration with Mames Babegenush for concerts, tours and recordings.
